Hey there! I’m Brittany Fisher, LCSW. Most recently, I practiced within the Social Work Department as the Civil Social Work Supervisor at Central State Hospital. I studied at the University of New Haven, where I received my undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice: Investigative Services with a minor in Psychology and Arabic. My career started as a probation officer in New Haven, CT working with juvenile sex offenders followed by working as a clerk for a children’s probate court. In 2014, I was accepted into Virginia Commonwealth University’s Master’s Social Work program. I graduated in 2016 with my masters in Social Work, and was immediately hired full-time as a forensic social worker. In 2019, I obtained my license as a clinical social worker. In June of 2020, I was promoted to be the supervisor of the civil buildings. After 6 years in inpatient psychiatry with the state, I accepted an offer to practice full-time with Virginia Commonwealth University within the Psychiatry Department offering outpatient therapy to our children to further my knowledge and expertise . As of October 2021, I am a full-time clinician with VCU Health Systems.
Observing the need for trained language interpreters for individuals who have limited English proficiency, I became a Qualified Professional Behavioral Health Interpreter (QPBHI). This is a specialized program for interpreting in the behavioral health setting. As a QPBHI, I provide support for language services in English and Spanish both on individual and organizational levels.
Most importantly, I’m a productive member of my community. I’m the Co-Founder and current President of the Virginia Chapter of Butterflies With Voices Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides resources to schools for youth.
Additionally, I am the Co-Founder and CEO of an intensive in-home agency that provides clinical behavioral health services to youth ages 5-18 who are at-risk of out of home placement.
A native of Hartford, CT, I now reside in North Chesterfield, VA with my husband and beautiful six-year-old and one-year-old daughters.
